Resigning vs authenticity in ordinance for my kid

Why not sit your kid down, and find out what is important to him.

But at such a young age if he was indoctrinated to be baptized that is probably what will feel normal to him, I would continue with the charade.

Would it not be more harmful, to have his Dad commit him to something that he no longer has belief in?

I just attended a baptism for my brothers kid yesterday, and he asked for all of his brothers to come up for the confirmation.

Technically my name is still on the roles of the church, although I no longer wear garments or attend, and they know that.

I was sitting there in a white shirt and tie, and I noticed some people seriously wanted to turn around and look at me, as to why I didn't go too.

But the end result was no one said a damn thing.

Do what works for you, after all you're the adult here.
