Restaurants are closing down too. It's looking like the second wave is real.

Correct in all counts. Sadly, had our leaders really thought out a response and educated the masses on the importance of wearing a mask we could have restarted the economy while taking proper precautions (mask, social distancing). Kriseman, Castor, and Pinellas County Commission are doing the right thing by mandating masks. But the lack of widespread adoption and enforcement doesn’t give the measure a lot of teeth. The fact that our Governor fails to mandate masks continues to set a bad example and enables the anti-intellectuals.

Mitigating risk in an effort that benefits the community at large is how people feel confident getting back to society and fueling the economy. It’s up to citizens now. The majority of people are in favor of masks. We have to self police in a non confrontational way. Call the non emergency number, speak to managers, and refuse to set foot in establishments that aren’t enforcing law.

If anti-maskers don’t want to follow the law and risk infecting our community they can stay home. This is a public health issue. We all want to start moving about society safely and the way to do that is simply covering your face and avoiding large gatherings.

It’s up to us, responsible citizens.

Can the mods set up a threat for business that refuse to comply? Just for informative purposes. There’s a lot to be said for negative publicity, non-compliance of the law, and disregard for public health. A little social pressure to protect the health of St Pete isn’t a bad thing.
