Resume Advice Thread - March 28, 2020

Spent 8 months doing random startup type stuff with my friends. Include this on resume?

Out of the 5 years after finishing my undergraduate degree in CS, I did some random startup stuff with my friends for 8 months while ultimately failed. Deployed some algos on aws for stocks/options modeling - basically a waste of time. Should I include this as professional experience or just put an 8 month gap on my resume? Besides that, I’ve worked full time at 1 big well known fintech company (still with them currently) and 1 small tech company (previously) for a total of more than 3.5 years.

My question: should I just leave out the 8 month failed project and keep a huge gap on my 4yoe resume or include it?

Applying to MFAAG companies in July and August. So this resume is for MFAAG companies mainly but also others I guess.

Any advice (preferably from someone at an MFAAG company) would be great. Thanks.
