Resume Advice Thread - September 17, 2016

I've spent about 15 years of my career with mostly two things in my resume: (1) iSeries programming (Formerly AS/400) & (2) few certifications related to Project management. For last 2+ years, I'm working on Oracle Siebel as Systems analyst. I believe I'm somewhat good at analysing stuff, breaking down a problem, by getting in to great details, until I come close to the solution or I come close to give enough input for someone to takeover to closure. I gave that background as I've recently decided to make a career shift to Salesforce , firstly, to start with being a certified administrator. I still need to get cerified, but I'm really thinking seriously abt it. ( it's a lot of money for the courses and cerification). The main reason I chose salesforce is because (a) it's in great demand and (b) I thought the configuration features in salesforce or the way things can be set up to achieve a business need, would better suit my analytical skills. I did not think of taking up anything on salesforce dev. What do you guys think? Am I making a good move if I'm aiming at being competitive for the next 5 years? Any suggestions on any other courses?
