While I agree with his not wanting to upsell, he's fos and it's none of his business as to its effect upon somebody's credit score. I'd rather see the customer demand to see the store manager and ream them for the policy if they object. I fired a particular major retailer for sending me a MC, just because I had their store card. I had simply shredded that MC, continuing to use my store card until they cancelled it. They said since I had that MC and I hadn't made them aware that I was not interested, it was my fault. After they refused to reinstate my store card, I simply told them to shove it and no longer shop there. But it doesn't matter to them as too many other sheep simply allowed them to send them a MC and then used it.
