Reusable cloth masks are no longer recommended by the CDC. I hate the idea of throwing away an N95 after every use. Any sustainable solutions?

N95's are good for 16 or so hours of use before the ESP/cationic shield starts to break down (because of the moisture in your breath). I've been writing in sharpie on the outside of mine how many hours I've worn it, and stretching them to ~24hours

That being said, using the cloth masks that are reusable is definitely my preference. Machine washable and homemade, mine have multiple folds of fabric with inserts for PM2.5 filters (not reusable :/). I'm pretty sure washing your hands and wearing any mask will help keep you safer than not. The most consistent messaging we got was "wash your hands, physically distance yourself and stay home".

Not telling you to not believe our national public health authority but they've not always given the most up-to-date information on this issue and it wouldn't surprise me if the single-use producers were pushing for the "more sterile options" to milk the captive audience they got.
