Reverse Tipping

I have had a similar experience. Years ago I had to go to a job interview, and I was super broke so I hopped the turnstile. I get on the train, and there's a panhandler, older, almost a senior, black man asking for nickels and dimes. He starts to pass me, we make eye contact, and he shakes his cup. I say, "I have no money man, I just hopped the turnstile." And he was like oh no man you shouldn't do that let me give you some money." And started taking some bills out of his pocket. He had like 20 bucks in smaller bills I'd guess. As he's thumbing through his cash counting it I say, "No way, I'm not going to take your money." And he replied,"No, no. I'm panhandling! Take it!" And then gave me like $7. I couldn't refuse, and thanked him. I said this will help me because I got a fine for hopping just a few days ago. He said he had gotten one of them as well and couldn't not give me a couple bucks. It really meant a lot to me. My bank account was like negative 400. I had rolled all of my change. I was dead broke like that. Really the interaction put a new perspective on life for me. He told me he was a schizophrenic, and a couple other things I don't remember very well. Just a human helping another human in the most genuine and sincere way. Just as you were doing for your pax.
