Reversible USB. I feel like this should have been invented sooner

In what situation do you think that you're going to need an adapter? By the sounds of it, you don't upgrade to new tech, so it shouldn't be a problem. 2005 was 9 years ago. Maybe it's time to buy a new mouse? Or maybe not. If you have a mouse from 2005, I can't imagine that you're going to be buying a new PC with new standards anytime soon. So, this basically doesn't even apply to you by the sounds of it?

This is a dumb argument. The transition to micro-usb was far more annoying back in the day, when we had multiple standards coming out at the same time. But overall, it was still fairly painless. On the other hand, this is a much better situation. It's just one standard replacing the last. And technology is cheaper now than it has ever been before, with that trend seeming to continue into the future. This whole situation is really not a big deal in the slightest. It's not overly inconvenient, it's not expensive, it's not really anything at all aside from a click of an 'order' button or a trip to your local brick and mortar.

And this isn't going to impede upon your ability to use older technology regardless. Like you said, just get an adapter if you really need to. That is such a minor inconvenience that we shouldn't even be talking about it. But, I doubt you'll need an adapter for a good couple more years after it's release. Look at 3.0, it was released in 2008. It's 2015 now and we still have both USB 2.0 and 3.0 in many new PC's. This will be no different. We'll have regular USB alongside of this new Type C port. So your transition really won't be troublesome for the most part even if you do decide to start upgrading your equipment.

There's no argument to even be had here. Your main point is that you want to continue using your 2005 mouse, or just older tech in general. That isn't changing. New PC's with these new standards will still have the older USB ports. So no problem there. Charging adapters are a dime a dozen. If you need a new one for your new Type C device, well luckily it most likely came with one, but you could also just buy another one too. Plugging your new device into your older computer? Meh. Adapters are also a dime a dozen and so are cables with the two different types on each end. Oh, the inconvenience! It's just unbearable! lol? Where's the problem again? Because there isn't one. I think you're just being stubborn and you want to argue, which is very typical of a lot of people when it comes to 'change' of any kind. People don't like change, even when it's a very accommodating change that at it's absolute worse is really just a damn minor inconvenience. And this minor inconvenience, which won't last forever, will solve a minor inconvenience that would otherwise last forever, while also providing other improvement benefits as well.

Pfffff.
