Rich people in America are too rich, says the world's second-richest man, Warren Buffett

It's really sad that it's probably true or worse. My friend is a full-time teacher with a masters degree and works a different full-time summer job. She cannot live in our area without multiple credit cards.

It's so sad because she works her ass off for her kids, staying after school to help the ones that aren't doing well (if they show up) and volunteers to chaperone prom, dances, etc. The only way she can afford rent in a 1 bedroom is by using her credit cards for everyday expenses and it kills me. She has savings but only for the purpose of paying off her student loans if things get bad. People like her that work hard and want to make a difference in other people and children's lives. They get fucked for it. They'll accrue so much debt just trying to have shelter and food on the table. Buying a house or taking an actual vacation are complete pipe dreams.

To top it all off her school district makes her teach literacy (she's not an english teacher) to high school students because they push them through middle school without basic skills like fluency in reading and writing English.

I really wish I could help her but unfortunately I'm in a similar boat.
