Richard Dawkins: I am against religion because it teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world

Is much rather we didn't need air bags or seatbelts because we all drove safely all the time. But we don't because we're not all that rational most of the time, and we didn't evolve to naturally understand how to pilot two tons of steel at 50mph.

And in a similar way, we didn't evolve to interact with hundreds or thousands of people everyday, to be constantly bombarded with news and ads and all kinds of needs either.

It's like telling everyone with an addiction to just stop. It's a great idea, but it obviously didn't work. And it seems like a lot of people really need to have faith in something. Sometimes this is religion, but often times we have faith in people we just met because we like them (or they're attractive), or faith in someone famous.

I don't think we can just get rid of religion, instead, let's figure out why it's so popular, and make it actually work for us.
