Why though? Etudes and exercises must serve some purpose. Are you playing some piece that requires lots of busy 4-5 fingerwork? Even in this case, there are better things. This is why teachers are great (good ones at least) - they can see what your current weakness is on the pieces you practice and find a good etude or exercise to train this. Just playing exercises for the sake of exercises, especially without any knowledgeable supervision - why? They aren't even fun. At least some other etudes are musical on their own, but Hanon? Also, I don't see scales and arpeggios as exercises of technique, more an exploration of functional harmony, getting familiar with all keys and chords. They could be played slowly with the same if not more benefit than quickly.
