Riley From Disney-Pixar's 'Inside Out' Returns in New Animated Short, 'Riley's First Date'

Warning - Here be overthinking Inside Out and what probably just amount to cute gags.

So you know what I really liked about this little short, or what we've seen so far? It kinda helps me believe my Headcanon about Riley's parents and Anger/Sadness being their leading emotions.

I know some people thought it was sad that anger was her father's leading emotion and sadness was his mothers.

Well in her mother's case I think it's clear Sadness has a lot more to do with empathy and understanding and communicating feelings and the like (Sort of like what Sadness needed to do for Riley). That's why she's always working from this "We'll find out what's going on." angle.

Her father it always bugged me that Anger was his leading emotion because it seemed so out of character. All the flashbacks/past scenes would give the impression that he is a very sweet, loving father. Switching to this "See here, young lady, I don't like this new attitude of yours." seemed so out of character.

But this little clip (And his actions in it) sort of satisfy my headcanon about him!

In his day to day life he may be a sort of angry guy. Thus all his stressed out phone calls, or in this case "What is a boy doing in my house?!"

But, basically the primary purpose of his Joy is to oversee his interactions with his family. Thus the reason that for most of the movie he isn't a snappy "Don't you take that tone with me, young lady!" but is more "Have a great day monkey, ooo ooo ooo! Ha ha ha."

So, TL:DR I really liked this short or what we've seen of it so far. It's really cute and it helps support my theory that her Mom's Sadness = More Empathy than Tragedy and her Dad's Anger has more to do with his Non-Family life than family life.
