Riley Howell, the 21-year old who lost his life tackling the UNCC gunman, will be buried with military honors

Devil's advocate here. I agree he should be remembered with honors but one pivotal moment should not be equated with years of service. I have family who spent a third of their adult life fighting overseas with 200+ flights, and he will receive military honors when he passes. What's the point of him having honors and a recognized ceremony if any civilian can receive the same honors? It completely overshadows those who trained, deal with disabilities or PTSD from fighting, and gave time to the military.

Giving this guy a military funeral means anyone who dies for another deserves a military funeral. So all the cops, firefighters, even mother's who die during pregnancy should receive a military funeral too, right?
