Riot's new 'direction' where they're exclusively rewarding premades is so alienating to lonely kids, and it breaks my heart.

I've spammed solo queue a lot in S1. At the time time elo hell was anything below 1800-1900 elo, if you hit the right spot the game was super fun on solo queue. But if you got to high (2k-2.1k+, max was 2150 I think) you got to deal with shitty pro-gamer personalities like Linak at the time. I think he's the sole reason why I quit playing LoL solo queue seriously.

Yeah you make friends, they invite you to a game and you play along, but still, it's more fun when you just hit the solo queue button. Once you hit a certain elo people will just add you to see who else is looking for a game. I really liked that. Let's say I knew a guy who would only play udyr top, and I was a hardcore ganking jungler, I knew if I had him in my team, he'd throw everything at his lane if I told him I'd come, and usually we got the kill. If he was my oppo he'd warn the other team which gave me an advantage: I could 'tease' his lane just to burn his summoners spells or invest in another lane. I think I've played more than 20-40 games with that dude which made every game interesting. People knowing your playstyle and you acting accordingly.

At the time there were a fixed amount of trolls like Pekslol, DarkwinJax and such, my tactic was just to befriend them and gank their lanes so they wouldn't tilt. I think I've played a couple of matches with their teams at the time. Nothing serious though. Still funny to see that DarkwinJax was permabanned for being an asshole a couple of seasons later, which he really was. My first game with him he played Heimer under the 'StunnedAndRaped' moniker where he went mid with revive/tp and fed all game long. Once I befriended him he wouldn't troll my games like that anymore. Something you learn in solo queue!
