The rise of Alberta's unapologetic petro-patriots

Well. Way I see it, it might be a bit like the "Eastern Elites" idea.

I'm from Ontario. Non-GTA Ontario. The parts of Ontario that was kicked in the gut a decade ago when industry took a bit of a nose-dive. The parts which Marc Maron referred to as "not a high-water mark for Canada" and "a sort of ongoing ragtag parade of frenetic sadness in many manifestations." or my personal favorite "a lot of humans twisted by soul sickness of one kind or another"

So. You know. I've always found it a bit annoying listening to Westerners talk about Ontario as though it's some continuous mass of concentrated riches and we're all strutting around like 20th century cartoon billionaires wearing top hats and twirling pocket watches.

Hell. My freaking Pizza Delivery Guy got talking about all the Homeless and just sinks into this "Yeah, it's only been getting worse and worse since all the factories closed...." talk.

So, yeah, I don't really see many of those "Eastern Elites" I keep hearing about in my day to day life.

TL:DR - Broad sweeping statements about entire provinces are rarely likely to be true.
