The Rising Storm

Before the sun was set and the magisters had retired to take their fill of Tyroshi plum brandy - one of the few exports from the city they would pollute themselves with - riders and ships left the city, bound for each of the Free Cities mentioned in the conclave. Essos roiled with political change in the east, and Myr would make it thus in the west, and north, if they had their say. It was a bold undertaking, yes, and support was not in the slightest bit guaranteed. But that these Free Cities had resisted... that was enough. The magisters had squabbled like children over the wording, but as Elysaria set to matters of logistics and horsewhipping lazy captains into action, the messages headed towards their various recipients. The Archon of Tyrosh, approached in a rare display of friendship (with many conciliatory remarks); the Prince of Pentos, and his magisters; the Sealord of Braavos; the Bearded Priests and the Council of Magisters of Norvos both; the Princes of Lorath; the rulers of Qohor. They all received the letter thus, and Myr awaited their responses.

The east is aflame, for, as you are all aware, Volantis seeks to restablish the Valyrian Freehold once more - and with the aid of the Targaryens of Yunkai and that most treacherous among our number, Lys. Such an entity cannot be tolerated now, lest the Volantenes consume us one by one. Even now, the embers of New Ghis barely cooled, they profess their benevolence, and decry accusations of ambition, of dreams of conquest. Such lies cheapen us all for hearing them, and we, the Council of Magisters of Myr, do condemn their actions! Were this not enough, they would also see our cities of noble and hallowed antiquity become mere possessions in their foul clutches, and would seek to stifle our trade!

It is to this end that we reach out to you, that we extend an invitation to our city before the month is out, that we might discuss matters of political import in the east. Myr formally proposes an alliance of Free Cities to resist the Republic, to quell their ambition. As Volantis was vanquished before, so must they again, that our Free Cities remain free.
