Robert Redford to Play President Robert Redford in HBO's Watchmen

This is controversial, but the conception of being transgender is a pretty modern thing. Boundaries used to be blurrier for LGBT people who were gender non conforming. Dante Gill sometimes referred to himself as a woman and a lesbian. If Dante gill were alive today, would be want to be known as a transgender man, a transmasculine lesbian, or a non-binary person? (Quite obviously, he was not cis).

I agree with those who say Scarlett Johanssen is not the best casting because a trans character is better played by a trans person, but there's still some room for nuance on this topic. Why aren't people trying to cancel Matthew McConaughey for playing a transwoman?

I guess there's a lot of bad blood floating around for this movie in particular because Hollywood has not been kind to transmen and transmasculine people, and LGBT people have a hard time trusting a big studio movie with an A list actress titled "Rub and Tug" would be respectful to Dante's story. I have to agree there too.
