Roberto Firmino-Mason Holgate clash: FA begins investigation [BBC]

I doubt it too, because it would be breaking precedent and the requirement that the referee did not see the event and note it in the match report.

I think the FA should be able to correct a decision to not give a booking or sending off though and give more appropriate punishment. It doesn’t do much to change the result, but it is at least some repercussion for players’ actions. You are able to appeal red cards that were given by a referee, and that doesn’t undermine the referee’s authority. Why can’t punishment be added after the fact, even if the referee saw it and wrote it in the report? That, in my view, has the same effect on the referee’s authority as appealing a red card. There’s a lot of things I think could and should be done to fix things, but the FA won’t give a damn as long the money keeps coming in.

Also, in a previous comment, I didn’t want to make it sound like I was accusing you of thinking Holgate shouldn’t have been sent off or speaking for you. It was just a general comment or statement. Sorry if it came off as an accusation.
