Donald Trump has done an extraordinary amount to help the Republican agenda -- things that could not have occurred without the outsider LARP.

When this episode ends, just like with George W. Bush, there will be so much damage that we will probably be bailing out for decades -- just like we were doing between GWB and Trump. Here we are in 2018, still under the terror that was GWB, and DJT comes along to make things much worse.

This is his downfall. Republicans will use this for all its worth -- sort of like DJT used his fake opposition to the Bushs for his outsider creds. His buffoonery may even benefit Republicans with a good amount of plausible deniability.

But these are familiar stories. Republicans govern to collapse. Democrats govern to boredom. Then, Republicans are back to do it again: Hoover collapse, Reagan/Bush collapse, GWB collapse, over and over (not so much with Ike and Nixon, but they were on short leashes thanks to the public's straong preference for Democrats in those decades).

Lately, it's the outsider LARP. Tea Party was the "outsider" until it wasn't. DJT was the new outsider. Now, maybe a few years of "insider" then there will be another outsider.

It's all very predictable.
