Rochester Dating

I'm a 28M Asian male, which does play a strong role for context. I have been online dating for about a year now after my ex-fiancee and I split (funnily enough, we met on OKCupid before it changed, and she's the reason I moved to Rochester in the first place).

I've found Hinge to be the best free app for quality dating since it has a larger pool and you have prompts to talk about. Tinder's pretty meh. Boring conversations most of the time, and a lot of ghosting. But hey, if you're bored, hop on to do some easy swiping (which I'm guilty of).

For me, Bumble, OKCupid, and Coffee Meets Bagel wasn't doing much, and you see a lot of repeat people anyway.

As far as other avenues to meet people, I would suggest Meetups. I think that the 20s-30s groups are pretty welcoming to all, hiking group has large ranges of people, and interest groups... well I find the people a bit awkward, though mostly because I'm in board and video game groups.

I mostly do 20s-30s groups, and depending on the event, it's only slightly more males, or mostly males, and you'll definitely get a lot of attention as a female lol. They've told me there are some weirdos out there that apparently slide into DMs without even attending events sometimes.

It's been nice right now for me because we're in the midst of summer and there's been a lot of outdoor activities. I wear my mask all the time, and generally people are good about abiding at least being socially distant. I don't really do bars or happy hour kind of events, especially with indoors b/c of COVID, but my friend has attended a few and he always has fun getting to know people there.

Next week we hike at Watkin's Glen which I'm pretty excited about!
