I want to root for him but he had that link on IG

I'm Canadian but I've been down to Houston a number of times. I met a few of my SO's friends who are pretty socially liberal -- generally woke about issues concerning race, immigration, the LGBTQ community, etc. But some of them are super conservative when it comes to the government restricting access to guns. It's hard for me to understand gun culture as an outsider, but as someone raised in religion I can kind of wrap my head around how the culture entrenches itself in everything. People associate it with family memories and it helps men achieve a sense of autonomy and masculinity (~protect my family). It feeds into some toxic societal norms but that's a whole 'nother essay.

I'm not making excuses for Garrett. Don't know the guy and, frankly, he may actually be a "crazy conservative republican" who holds -all of the same beliefs as the current president. But he may also be an ok guy with some conservative views about gun control... For what it's worth, I think a lot of the men who get casted on the show probably share a similar view :/
