I think the premise of your post is bad. At least I did originally, for all sorts of reasons. That’s not an apples to apples comparison. Then I thought about it.

Max has three DNF’s this year. One was a tire blow out, the other two were contributed to by Lewis aggressive driving (I think Monza was a racing incident). Then there’s the race where he had half a barge board thanks to Bottas. If luck was even, Lewis would be well behind in this championship. Maybe max should be more careful? Then I thought some more and the only incident that’s cost him points that he could’ve reasonably done anything to stop was at Silverstone. That’s one race.
