If a 28 year old with a Harvard degree hasn't yet learned that you shouldn't sign petitions demanding you free a child rapist who received no punishment after fleeing to Europe and becoming a widely praised millionaire filmmaker living in the lap of luxury then I will gladly jump off a bridge tonight because there is clearly no hope in this world.

She didn't learn from her mistake because she didn't make a mistake. She just didn't care.

Either somebody gave her a petition to sign and she said, "will it be good for my career? Maybe? Whatever, sure, who cares" or (even worse) she genuinely thinks being a good director absolves you from being convicted of child rape. You would have to be some seriously demented/retarded individual to not be able to figure out "fuck him, he raped a kid".

If she just admitted to bring a shitty, stupid, selfish person then I wouldn't care thatmuch. Instead she framed it as simply being naive and making a mistake.
