Did you actually stop reading after the first sentence of my comment? First, even if you think win totals don't matter to HoF voters (it does and the HoF was what we were discussing), I immediately go on to gloss the win difference in terms of the relative pressure the pitchers faced in the game. Now, maybe you think this is meaningless too (it isn't). But in any event acting like Verlander isn't a cheating piece of shit just because he didn't happen to be swinging the bat is completely absurd. You can't let someone into the HoF who, for years and in the World Series, knowing let systematic cheating of this sort go on without saying a word.
