Just out of curiosity, did you downvote my hot dog comment or was it the miscellaneous salties? i notice folks obviously just come through and downvote the post and any comments in support of it and upvote all the nay sayers. Like they're so hell-bent on avoiding the rapdily dawning realisation that we aren't alone in the universe, that they will carpet bomb any one who suggests otherwise. I find it curiosly intriguing. The only other issue I've seen redditors even remotely as polarised on is Trump. I can't help but be drawn to the similarity between the 2 subjects, in the absence of definitive proof to establish their bona fides the debate hinges primarily on instincts and anecdotes. A lack of a 'smoking gun' precipitates debate based on emotional positions and preconceptions.... when those aspects of a person are challenged, they respond with a flame thrower, because your not disputing an issue, your question their perspective on existence itself. Mmmm.... I think I just + 1 for wisdom. Sweet.
