I have a rott/pit/husky mix. Dad has horrible happy tail and so does mom and they knock so much over and I'm honestly scared one of them will break their tails when they get too excited. Would it be worth it to get my boy's tail cropped to avoid future issues? Or should I leave it?

There are different reasons to doc tails. Cattle dogs like Australian shepherds sometimes have tails docked because when they herd cattle, having a thousand pound animal step on the tail while the dog is running full speed could seriously injure the spine and even kill them. With piglets, it's common to doc their tails because baby pigs will chew each other's tails, causing infections that can lead to death. Some people doc tails if there is a deformity that could lead to future issues. Others do it for hygiene (a big fluffy tail dragging on the muddy ground) or asthetics. I'd say talk to a vet about pros and cons before making any decisions. Ask if the vet has ever seen dogs come in with injured tails because of hardcore wagging. Personally don't think it's a good idea unless it is likely to help the animal out, but in the end, if it's done by a reputable vet and you take good care of the healing process, it shouldn't affect his life long term to have a docked tail, and the docking process if done correctly shouldn't be a hard procedure to recover from.

HOWEVER I'm not a vet, so don't take any of this as gospel lol. Just based on what I've seen myself and read from others :)
