Round 3: Game 1 at Ducks [Post-Game Thread]

A guy who never played a game the entire season traded to a team looking to make a cup run? It still doesn't make sense to me. I understand you saying there is a need for another d-men to soak up minutes, but I am sure there are plenty, plenty more capable men in the NHL ready to be traded who have played all season long. I am not experienced enough with the league to name players, but I am in agreement with ValkyrieNine here. It seems like a gratuitous trade to appease a final season veteran wanting a cup. There is nothing wrong with that if we had a strong 3rd line of D-men, but there isn't. The team needs capable D-men, not rookies, and not people who haven't been up against other NHL teams all season long. Hammer was friggin dying out there last night. Everybody is looking towards the cup, and for the Hawks, this seems like a terrible move before the cap hits. His veteran status means nothing if he can't make it work on the ice. He is constantly struggling to keep up with other players, and often has to force a penalty to do his job. I would love to have him if he could keep up, but it just doesn't look like he is worth too much at the moment. Our only other option is Runblad who tilted super hard after fucking up super bad (You saw what he did with his stick...). I think we have other issues going into this series than just this, but this is definitely one going in to the WCF without Rosival, who was much more capable than either players I have mentioned, his own problems as a player aside. I'm sure most teams have these issues as they get closer to the cup, but ValkyrieNine has a freaking point even his wording was a bit harsh.
