Row with bus driver over €50 note ‘traumatised’ student

Jesus somebody's a bit touchy! Or wait are you actually this guy?

Ahh...This explains it "personally, I think Bus Eireann bus drivers could do with a kick up the hole as they're not overly professional in my experience with them. Private bus companies seem to be an awful lot better."

Had a bad experience? Did someone not let you on a bus because you were too dumb to have correct change?

"If the bus driver had been nice about it he might not have brought anyone to court."

If you're clogging up our courts over frivolous shit like this you're an idiot. Full stop! Get bad service at the bar. Sue them!

"Worked in plenty of customer service and user support roles." So IT then? Bit different. "There's never an excuse to be a prick unless someone else is" well from the article "Mr McDonagh denied being unruly and disturbing other passengers." I sincerely doubt this is true but it's pretty hard to get bystanders to show up in court for nonsense like this.

"Attempting to pay for a bus with the only money he had and then asking if he could get change in a shop is not "deciding" to hold up a bus." Yes it is! Anyone who doesn't realise that buses don't always have enough change to break this is a moron and the rest of his behaviour doesn't exactly refute this "Would you genuinely have just let the bus leave without even trying to use the 50 or asking?" I would know not to try and break a 50 on a bus. I wouldn't try to break a tenner on a bus, do you know why? Because only idiots do this. The bus driver told him he didn't have change, what's he supposed to do? Let the guy ride for free? The reason the bus driver was getting pissed of is because he couldn't pay but decided to stay there arguing anyway holding everyone on the bus up. People like this are just completely thoughtless and inconsiderate.

"Oh I want to pay with a 50"

"Oh can I just go over there and get change" How about you stop holding everybody else up and take it as a life lesson.

"I'm not sure if you're used to country bus routes often but they're infrequent and unreliable at best" Pieta House is not exactly in the middle of nowhere, it's only about 2 miles from the city centre you could walk it in about half an hour if you were really desperate.

And to top it all off he received a letter of apology and it still wasn't enough for him, he had to go to court.

I'm not saying the bus driver is completely blameless here. But dealing with idiots like this all day can grind you down and just the fact that this made it to court shows how stupid the whole thing is.

This section from the article sums the whole thing up.

"“He was rude when I was just pleasant. I just wanted to go to counselling. This affected me because I was rebuilding my confidence and learning to stand up to bullies. I was getting hope into my life, but this threw me right back to my childhood and made me feel hopeless again. I was humiliated and felt worthless and like a criminal, but had no reason to.”

He denied that he was over-reacting."
