RPDRRankdown: Legacy - Round 2

The absolute worst part of this election is the people equalizing the candidates. Let's be clear: they are not equal. "Giant Meteor 2016" "We're screwed either way" "#TheyBothSuck etc". These candidates are not both "just as bad as one another". At all.

Donald Trump inspires hatred, racism, antisemitism and misogyny. He facilitates these emotions in his supporters who have clearly held these feelings in for a while. He makes them feel it is okay to feel and act on these emotions. He does not have the temperament to be president. He does not have the maturity to be president. At the very least you can say Hillary beats him there. She does not get in twitter wars. Do we really want a president that gets in TWITTER WARS and (as recently as a month ago) defended his calling of women (on TWITTER) "Miss Piggy"? That is something an internet troll does. And you want him to be president. We are a country that the rest of the world makes fun of--relentlessly. We're the butt of the joke for our behavior more times than not--and you want to elect the stereotype of Americans? He is also just plain not knowledgeable about the position. He didn't know what our "Nuclear triad" referred to until last Spring. He ridicules Hillary on things she didn't change while in the Senate--which were often things Senators can't change, showing that he doesn't know what each branch of the government can do. He supports Japan having nukes and has said (as recently as September) that he would not hesitate to use nukes. He has never held an elected office. He does not believe in global warming. I hear the stupid "but he's not a politician and we need someone with a fresh take on things" bullshit all the time. It's bullshit. Do you go out to eat and ask the bussboy to make your dinner instead of the chef because you think he might put a good spin on it? "He's a businessman, we need that!" Why? America is not a business. It's a country. A global superpower.

His running mate, Mike Pence, supports conversion therapy for LGBT people. He supports prosecution for women that get abortions and also has pushed for legislature to make women that get abortions AND women that suffer miscarriages to pay for a funeral for their fetus. With Trump's temperament we are THIS close to having him impeached and having Mike Pence as our president.

Hillary is not the perfect candidate. I do think that, if elected, most of her policies will be more Republican especially economically. I don't think she'll get everything accomplished that she wants to--or even that she'll necessarily try. But I am voting on her for her social policies at the very least. She does not promote hatred or violence. She has a calm temperament. She BELIEVES IN GLOBAL WARMING AND WANTS TO TAKE STEPS TO STOPPING IT. She knows this job and is more experienced and qualified to fill this position than any past president. When you are hiring someone for a job--you choose the most qualified person. Not the person with the best catchphrases. What rights do you risk losing if Hillary wins? None.

The fact is, there is a clear and obvious, unqualified candidate who cares little for a vast majority of the country that he wants to serve. And even if you choose to ignore his hatred towards people because it doesn't effect you, you're still left with a man who doesn't understand ANYTHING that goes into the job he's applying for.

If you're considering voting for a third party, then I'm glad that you live a life where you have the luxury to risk that. Congrats on probably being white and straight. A third party candidate will not win, and to be honest Gary Johnson and Jill Stein are terrible. Gary Johnson doesn't know anything about foreign policy and doesn't care to stop global warming. Jill Stein is polling at 2% and not worth mentioning. If you want to break the 2 party system then you need to get these candidates into smaller offices first. These parties spring up every 4 years around election time and want to skip right over the necessary steps to get INTO the white house. They are not real options.

I also see the meme of "I promise not to delete people based on their political opinions because I'm mature!" floating around. I don't even understand that. If you tell me you are voting against my rights as a gay man and my rights to happiness because you are really pressed about emails and Benghazi (both of which she has been cleared for--BY REPUBLICANS I might add) then yes, I will absolutely unfriend you.
