You really are just a ball of pure salt. How about you stick commenting about your own league instead of taking swipes every direction you can whenever you can.

1 - "doing something for the community "just to help out" is not very cool anymore" - Utter-nonsense - Maybe you don't feel it for your efforts anymore. I have some homework for you: Plot a graph of how cool it was to "just to help out" against time and also plot "When I started posting holier than thou posts across the community and attacking other members of the community for making any kind of money" on the same graph. Find where they cross - that is when you went to far and people's opinion on you started to change.

  1. " Only some (luckily they are still here) are willing to put up the time for a common cause" - How did you view something as NAC for example? Nili flew in players from all over Europe costing him thousands upfront. He bought equipment for the event, extra cameras simply to stream, presumably spent quite a bit on overlays and the likes for his stream. Ultimately he made a small profit so I assume you think he is the devil - however it was no where near a profit that would warrant the blood sweat and tears that went into the event. He poured in so much effort and gave potentially the best AoE2 event people have seen. I know there are more than a handful of people I have spoken to that view it as the best esports tournament they have ever watched.

  2. " Same reason why Voobly Community Team ended (even though some others might want to tell you otherwise, this is the real reason why it fell apart way before any drama)."

You trying to tell us the all knowing BlackAdder is telling us that it disbanded because of money? Because of those 10/11/12 people that were on the team only two are streaming making money right now and one is getting paid to be an admin. One of those two hosted the event mentioned above in point #2 there, so if you originally viewed it as a positive thing you better flip it to a negative to back up your own point here. I think it is the brackets that gets me the most. (Others are telling you why they stopped doing something, but no, listen to me, salt of the earth BlackAdder who doesn't have an agenda at allllll).

  1. " What is a shame is the permeated air that for something to be "good" or "interesting," you need thousands of dollars."

Again you just show complete lack of community understanding. There have been so many events with 0 prizepool that gets plenty of viewers it isn't even worth listing. Hell even T90 community games (which I am sure you are aware has $0 on the line) is "good", "interesting" and gets thousands of views on twitch and then even more on Youtube. This is just your anti money bias blinding you, once again.

  1. " As are for example Olympics, which also don't have prize money... "

This one made me LOL the most I think.

Honestly, where are you trying to go with that? There is no official prize for the medalists so the RTSL is just like the Olympics?

Completely correct - if you ignore the winnings the countries pay to their medalists I guess. A bit like if I hosted a tournament and shouted about no prizepool but if Viper won Secret would pay him his winnings. Of course there is the UK who pay nothing extra to those who medal, instead athletes get paid a salary and the budget for the next Olympics is decided based on our medal haul. A bit like if the Secret team were paid a salary for playing AoE but next months salary would depend on how well they played the previous month.

And then of course there is the admin fees for running my completely free community run tournament! The internet tells me the last tournament cost me about $6.2 Billion to put on, hell the one I ran in Sochi cost $51 Billion. $51 BILLION.

But yes, apart from the Billions it costs to run and the money and careers the athletes build around the Olympics, then yes, RTSL is EXACTLY like the Olympics.
