Ruled vs grid vs dot journals

I use a ruled notebook. And it has 30 rows, which is fantastic for monthly spreads (plus, there is enough empty space on the bottom of the page for row #31 when needed and on the top of the page for column headings). My bujo pages for each month are just 2.5 multi-column monthly spreads + 1 page with ( horizontal habit trackers (one row of small circles per habit; non-daily habits are grouped together) + some extra stuff).

But back when I was doing dailies it was OK, but not great. The ruling is my notebook is quite dark, maybe that's why.

I'm not planning to ever use a dotted one. Squared grid has got super distracting for me over the years, and I suspect that dots would be even worse.

And I use a notebook with blank pages for long-form journaling / freewriting sessions.
