Rumor has it that Pebble Is On the Rocks Even with $18 Million in the Bank

There's a reason Google play doesn't include China's numbers while Apple does. Google play isn't available in China.

I believe it was only last year that Google allowed Chinese developers onto Play but with the caveat that they can't even sell to their fellow citizens.

So you're basically combining numerous companies vs one. That's like saying if you combine the sales of all other e-commerce business and compare them to amazon then they beat Amazon.

As a seller that's meaningless to me because I'm unlike to want to have to sort out dealing with basically everyone else just to maybe eek out more sales than if I just stuck with Amazon.

Given all the other companies are Chinese there's a fair chance if I want to deal with them I need to speak Chinese (I don't) and my app would need to be in Chinese (it wouldn't be unless I pay for a translation) and if I provide support it needs to be in Chinese (again, I don't speak chinese).

That's because considering if they even let outsiders sell in their store. If Google won't sell in China there's a reasonable chance the others will do something similar and say no foreigners.

Baidu only recently allowed english speakers onto their service and that assumes they've brought all their documentation up to an acceptable level in English and maintain that. Otherwise you're consistently at a disadvantage to the native developers.

But let's say they all let me onto their shop and it's relatively pain free. I still have to be more popular on those services in order to make the same money that I would on iOS.

That's ok for big global companies that have something everyone wants (assuming the chinese government doesn't block it) but for the average small timer. They'll need to work for those downloads. Unless you make sure you do a top job on translation and understand cultural differences then you're at a disadvantage.

Ask yourself, how much software do Americans or European use from companies in China or India for that matter? These people make a lot of software for American companies - they're certainly technically competent but how much of their home grown software is a big success in the west?

Why are you expecting it to be easier going the other way?
