Running back hype!

Hes played 4 seasons already and has never really done much except for some highlight runs.

U wot m8. He's one of the best third down backs out there. Guy has had two years with 50+ receptions in a split backfield. Along with that, he's one of the better blocking RBs in the league. He's an established rotational back. He's good.

OK, but you can't discount Careys development was stunted with the coaching staff we had last year

Well yeah. Right now, we have this situation.

  • A veteran RB who excels in the one thing Forte fails at (blocking), can catch, and adds a nice scat back option. Right now, he

  • A rookie RB who is far and away outperforming Carey

  • A ST ace who is also outplaying Carey as a traditional RB, let alone ST guy

See how they all have roles? The only other traditional RB (Langford) is outplaying Carey. They all fill facets of the game that Carey simply doesn't.

I'm just saying there's more to who we keep or don't keep than just this year. The fact that Carey is in the 2nd year of a 4th round rookie contract and has shown potential makes him cheap and better investment for the future than a guy like Perry who will play STs only

And yet Perry is outperforming Carey in a traditional running role let alone ST. Senorise is a year older than Ka'Deem. Any "potential" you see in Carey has to be examined in Perry as well to remain impartial.

Carey's greatest stength is his patience. He has very limited top end speed and isn't the biggest back in the world. Perry has the physical tools, Carey has the mental ones.

Factor in Forte may not be here next year either.

Trust me, I have. I don't want to see Carey out the door. I'm just saying that the statement "it would make no sense to cut Carey" is not at all true. There's plenty of reason and plenty of chance that it happens.
