Here's the running list of everyone this sub has blamed so far this season. (In order)

The verdicts:

  1. The refs: innocent, but they should really be a little better. Seems like the current generation blows more calls than in the past, although maybe it's just better instant reply that catches them out.
  2. Melo: guilty, for pressing Dolan (over Donnie Walsh's objections) to make the trade that cost the Knicks too many assets. If he really wanted to win in NY, he could have waited another few months and come to the team as a free agent. It's not that Melo doesn't work hard, or that he doesn't want to win. It's that he doesn't prioritize winning. He's made that crystal clear with his career decisions.
  3. The media: innocent, but annoying. With a few notable exceptions, Knicks reporters are not very good writers. Hard not to pity them sometimes for having to cover this endless train wreck.
  4. Rambis: slightly guilty, not so much for being a bad coach as for being Phil Jackson's yes-man. Phil could have used an old friend with the guts to tell him the triangle needs an upgrade in the three-point era.
  5. Phil Jackson: guilty, for his triangle obsession, and especially for trying to win this season. The Noah contract's the worst thing he's done by far, but even the Lee contract was wrong for a team that clearly should have been starting a patient rebuild around KP (which is still clearly the right strategy, with or without Melo on board).
  6. James Dolan: guilty, to an extent hardly ever seen before in sports or in any other aspect of human history.
