Russel Brands new film on the state of the economy.

Well, the thing is, it's easy to point out problems. Anyone can look at something and think "Hey that's not cool, man". But finding a working solution to these problems is insanely more difficult. I'm not saying this to discredit Russel Brand. I'm not one of those "Oh, well he's just an actor. Who cares what he thinks about these things?" people. I think Russel Brand is a smart dude. Though (as countless others have pointed out) a bit hypocritical talking about how the poor need to be helped, and the rich rule everything when he lives in like a luxury flat and gets driven around and all that shit. Idk how much he donates, but looking at his lifestyle, it can't be much. But his hypocrisy is irrelevant in this case. And he's at the very least raising awareness, and bringing his egalitarian ideals to people who otherwise wouldn't have even thought about any of this shit. And it's good.

But yeah, easy to point out problems, hard to fix them. A good example of this is something that happened to me yesterday. I was with some friends, and we were walking to the skate shop. There was a homeless woman who from her appearance was here from the middle east. Her sign was in (broken) English, so she spoke neither English nor Danish. Which obviously would mean she's not here legally. I gave her my last 9kr, and my friends saw me do it, so they all gave her a little too. But then they started saying shit like "I don't get it. If she's homeless and has all these problems, why doesn't she just get help from the government, or get a job?"

I was trying to explain to them that she wasn't here legally, so she couldn't get a job, or help from the government. But they like just couldn't comprehend this. They didn't understand that the solution that would work for them (Getting government help) doesn't apply to her because she's not a citizen or anything. Like people get so trapped in their 1st world bubbles that they don't realize how not every solution they have would apply to everyone else. I think Russel Brand also realizes this, so he tends to not try to point out solutions.
