Russia offers water bombers and specialists to help fight Fort McMurray forest fires

I live three hours away from the fire, we've got so many people here in hotels and staying in people's homes who have lost everything. It's heartbreaking. I don't personally think it's a good idea to accept Russia's offer (for multiple reasons), but at the same time our water bomber planes have been reduced by more than half and nobody is really taking this seriously except for Russia, apparently.

It's really difficult to watch a city burn to the ground, but Albertans have really taken the reigns and are acknowledging the devastation that our governments are having a hard time putting into perspective. Our premiere suggested the opposition leader was a fear monger when he brought up the water bombers and firefighter reductions and recommended a state of emergency. His house literally burnt down the next day. Trudeau's offer to match Red Cross donations is great, but he's very negative towards our province and it's a little difficult to take him as genuinely concerned when we've sent billions to other countries. We're more so depending on one another now, we know not much assistance will be offered federally.

Businesses are offering free product and services everywhere here, people are donating so many goods and opening up their homes. Albertans have been SO selfless. I've been super busy running around supplies to people who need it and it's really hard to not break down. I get a little pissed when people undermine the seriousness of the situation, but until you've volunteered countless hours trying to do everything you can to comfort and accommodate these people who have nowhere to go, it's hard to understand. This is a serious tragedy and Albertans are mostly just disappointed in the indifference shown by our leaders.
