I’ll give you a single data point and I’d like to emphasize that I’m not saying this is the case everywhere!

I work for a ~$3B company and manage one of our largest accounts so I am in frequent contact with our CEO and several of the VPs. The dudes and ladies are brilliant and work way more hours than I would ever consider working. We may have some managers that made it because of political connections but the vast, VAST majority of people at my level (director) and above absolutely deserve it and have worked their asses off to earn the rank.

Except you *****. You are a nice person but we have no idea what value you provide and would it kill you to make a decision???
