Amidst the rollercoaster of emotions leading up to and following the release of the new Clash of Clans update it’s time to announce the final results of Season One of the RCS War Tournament!
The journey started in January when 22 clans from among the RCS family began battling each other on alternating weeks in a series of arranged wars to determine supremacy. Initially, the clans were divided into 4 divisions (Pools A through D) and results of this first round of wars determined which 16 clans advanced to the playoffs and their seeding on an NCAA Tournament-style bracket.
Eventually Reddit Viper and Reddit Upsilon both emerged undefeated in pool and conference play to meet in the final battle for the title. Notable victories for Viper along the way included slipping past Reddit Eclipse on a tie-breaker and then defeating Reddit Hounds, a fellow CWL Rising clan, in the conference finals. Upsilon overcame a CWL Rising clan of it’s own with a victory over Reddit Ace and then halted Reddit Heroes incredible run of perfect war victories in the conference finals to setup the match versus Viper.
For the final battle the clans agreed to a 20 v 20 war with a breakdown of 2 TH11s, 5 TH10s, 1 TH9.5, and 12 TH9s. Both clans cleared the opposing TH9s with no dip attacks and each scored one successful TH10 v 11 2-star hit. Ultimately Reddit Viper’s TH10 play and base designs proved to be decisive as they achieved two 10 v 10 triples and even an 11 v 11 triple to pull ahead for good and win the title by a score of 58 to 55. Congratulations to /u/PrincessLeane and her team on running the table and claiming the season one trophy.
Plans are well underway for season two of the RCS War Tournament which is slated to begin next month. A new champion will be crowned because following the conclusion of the first event Reddit Viper announced their decision to reestablish themselves as an independent clan family. We wish them well as they go out on top, and look forward to determining a new RCS champion in the months to come!
While the spotlight shined on Viper and Upsilon the other clans who had participated in the tournament were not just left on the sidelines. To conclude the tournament an All-Star war was held by mixing together 100 players from the clans that had competed and engaging in a 50 v 50 battle royale. Playing off the RCS War Tournament initials (RWT) the teams to duke it out were the RWTweedledees vs RWTweedledums. Major credit goes to u/WarTown14 for taking the lead on organizing the rosters and getting the last minute substitutes where need. With the rosters so evenly matched by weights and offense it was no surprise that the fighting would be close and the two clans did not disappoint. In the end it was the RWTweedledees that emerged victorious, capping the RWT inaugural season with a 136-134 victory.
