It’s a family secret

Aw. I'll give you my family's recipe, over 100 years old, maybe more.

Filling:

Fry up a pound of bacon, then remove bacon. Chop a whole onion and fry it in the bacon grease. Remove onions. Skin some potatoes and boil them, like 6 or 7 small ones or 2 or 3 big ones. Mash. Add the oniony grease. Add a cottage cheese or farmers cheese (amount is up to you). Salt to taste. Put in fridge to cool (makes it easier to spoon later).

Dough:

Flour, water, and salt. Idk measurements, I just eyeball it til "doughy". Sometimes I add an egg to the mix but honestly no one can tell the difference. Roll it out on a floured surface.

Putting together:

(keep a small cup of water and small cup of flour to the side)

Cut circles with a drinking glass. Spoon some filling. Dip finger in water and run it arouns the edges of dough. Fold it in half and press edges together. Dip the wet part in flour cup and press together again. I find that this prevents breaking open during boiling.

It might not at all be like your grandma's, but I thought I would throw it out there just in case. I rarely see this type of filling when searching recipes and people often tell me these are "just like their grandma's".
