It’s hard work oppressing constituents.

Bevin was a complete fuck wit even by Kentucky standards. He thoroughly attacked the education system, cut state funding for higher education and blamed striking teachers for their students being raped at home, so I'm not surprised he got booted.

Kentucky is a strange state. They actually have 2 colleges that are free for Appalachian residents, Berea and Alice Lloyd, which is a radical thing even in a lot of blue states. My hometown school district actually made lunch free for all students too, which it absolutely should be regardless of ability to pay because they are required by law to be there and no one wants the kids to go hungry. Kentucky is a welfare state, they love being a welfare state even though they simultaneously bitch about it all of the time (cut them all off and see how long it takes for the entire state to start screaming). If it wasn't for Red Scare propaganda they'd probably be one of the most socialist states. Unfortunately Kentucky is just too caught up in the Red Scare and religious extremism to vote blue for the federal offices. I guess they feel like a blue governor can't rusher in a Communist utopia so they are more willing to consider their policies and vote for them, but a blue senator or president could rusher in a Communist utopia (in their minds), so they won't even consider voting for them for even a fraction of a second. It's a shame.
