I really don't care if you change your view. You seem really married to "it's NORMATIVE to hit children!" so I'm not even going to attempt to change your mind on that.

I just really hope my words haunt you, if you choose to hit your kids.

I hope you remember me someday if your adult children want nothing to do with you because they've notice how you like you quibble over definitions of "hitting" instead of showing empathy and kindness to those who tell you they've been irreparably hurt by the "normative" hitting of children.

I hope you lie awake at night wondering "where did I go wrong?" because your kids won't speak to you.

I don't expect that the obvious answer -- "gee, maybe I shouldn't have hit my kids and loudly justified hitting children at every opportunity" will ever come to you, but if it ever does, we can talk then.
