It’s time to expel Turkey from Nato

The NATO spending would make Germany the third largest military in the world after China.

Germany‘s economy is so large that 2% would dwarf everyone in Europe by large margin including Russia. It would be around 80-100 billion a year and nearly 2x the UK or France’s spending.

Unless Germany wants to built aircraft carriers and make a nuclear program, there‘s just no need for that kind of budget. And since Germany views its military as a pure defense force and has no interest in power projection, there‘s simply no way to fulfill such a giant budget.

Germany already has some of the most advanced equipment in the world, the supply issue is not related to money and was caused by mismanagement in the early 2000s. Throwing money at it wouldn’t fix the supply and there‘s not much the German military could buy, we already have the best submarines, tanks, artillery, and rifles in the world on par with the US. And there‘s already a German-French fighter jet program running for a 6th gen fighter.

Germany right now has a budget on par with France and the UK and this without nuclear and massive Navy expenses, money has never been the issue regarding the German military.
