That’s who I am

I never wanted to move to NYC, moved there cause of work. Literally no one I knew gave a shit, met a lot of transplants in NYC that thought the rest of the country was dying to move to New York or thought about NYC on a regular basis. Hated to break it to them that I didn't know a single person back in the many places I had lived before that gave a shit about NYC or wanted to live here. In fact the only reaction I got back home was "damn, sorry". I moved there it was dirty, smelly overall disgusting, everything's packed, sure there's more restaurants and bars than usual but I actually found there was less stuff to do than Austin, Salt Lake City, other places I had lived, mostly because there's literally no room or the rent is so high for those sorts of things to exist. I didn't have a single person visit me when I went to new york because no one wanted to, but I'm moving to Colorado now and there's dozens of people with plans to visit in 2022 to see the rocky mountains. I don't know where people get the impression they did something exclusive by moving to NYC when the reality is most people don't want to move there.
