S3 who knows he sucks checking in - need some tips

First off you need some confidence. If you start thinking "oh my god I'm totally fucked" in clutch situations, chances are you're probably gonna get rekt.

Second: play as much as you can on all the competitive maps. Dm, casual, competitive, doesnt matter what, just make sure its the regular rotation of competitive maps. The more you play the faster you will begin to learn angles, holds, basic map strats, etc. This takes some intuition and self discipline, as you're gonna have to calmly figure out what went wrong and how not to make that same mistake again.

Which brings me to my next point; remain calm at all times. Your emotions WILL fuck with your gameplay. Sometimes it's positive like when you get hyped and go on a rampage,.other times it's negative, like when things fall apart and the rage/depression kick in. You gotta remain calm in these moments and just play your game, learn to block out everything else other than the task at hand.

As someone else already put it; nades. Learn how/where/when to use them and start making it a regular part of your gameplay. If I'm ct side and strapped for cash, I would honestly rather have a smoke grenade than a helmet. That smoke grenade can allow me to get into and out of places, stop/slow rushes, and set up screens to deter awpers and get through open areas. Against AK 47s and awps the helmet is gonna do absolutely jack shit for me.

Finally learn how to move. Shoulder fakes, stutter steps, peaking correctly, knowing where your running footsteps can be heard from, being able to fluidly move through the map with minimal delay (kz style), knowing how to handle a one on one firefight with quick rapid strafes and ducks; knowing how to do all this will get you out of silver on the sheer basis that no one will be able to land a shot on you at that level of play if you already have decent aim.

Above all else remember it's just a game, add people with mics to your friends list, get your friends from real life playing too, then que up and go have some fun.

Tl;dr: everything that separates a decent player from a scrub.
