[S3E10] Portrayal of Women

My dude, you're missing the point and forgetting how women have been portrayed throughout history. I do not think that he necessarily sees women as weak or pathetic but a lot of the time, they are portrayed in his work to be victims of violence.

Look, I get it. You're frustrated with how people are only focusing on the female characters and are not seeing that some of the male characters are also victimized. The fact of the matter is, is that female characters have been primarily portrayed as "the damsel in distress" repeatedly throughout history, while male characters have been given a larger spectrum of roles.

People find Lynch's female characters to be problematic because people are tired of seeing female characters always being the victim, only to be rescued by their knight in shining armor.

I do not necessarily think it is a reflection of how Lynch thinks about women, but I believe it is his interpretation of how many women are treated in our world (most victims of domestic abuse are female). Taking that and pairing it with his ability to shock people through his art is to get people talking and start a discussion about violence towards women.

Honestly, my main problems with Lynch are how his female characters are always in a relationship or connected to someone romantically (the only exception being Denise and Tammy) and the lack of people of color in the show.
