[S3E12] I'm sorry, but David Lynch and Mark Frost owe us each a gold shovel for this episode

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. He's subverting the format yet again. A typical show will plant an idea with the audience, and then when it comes to fruition, they feel good about having seen it coming. This show not only doesn't do that it also sets you up for that experience and doesn't deliver.

But it does deliver in other ways. It delivers in terms of mood and style and characterization. We're constantly being set up for things that never happen because that's the point. David Lynch once said, and I paraphrase, "life doesn't make sense, so why should art?" Twin Peaks: The Return doesn't make sense. But our desire to make sense of it is what it is about.

Right when you think you have it figured out some new thing comes along and you are back to square one. I'm beginning to think that we may never get Coop back and I'm okay with that because we have so much interesting stuff going on.

My advice would be to drop your preconceived notions about what you expect from the show and enjoy the ride.
