[S6E9] Predictions Discussion - S6E9 'Battle of the Bastards'

Great Northern Conspiracy FTW. I think it's interesting that they included two portraits of Small Jon Umber in the photos for this episode-- and not just him with other characters, but two full on portraits makes me think that he's going to play a big role in the coming episode.

I think that the evidence is pretty compelling when taken all together, even if not all of it is perfect

1) Small Jon's Father was murdered at the Red Wedding

2) Umbers are famously loyal and Small Jon refused to kneel or swear an oath of loyalty. With the emphasis on oaths in recent episodes, I fell this is significant.

3) They're hard core Northerners- Rickon and Osha said they were headed that way for sanctuary and I don't think that the Umbers would easily break the rules of hospitality and offend the Old Gods.

4)Shaggy Dog's Head- (this is the piece of evidence about which I'm most skeptical)- the head was really small in comparison to, say, Ghosts. Also, it's repeatedly mentioned in the books that Shaggy Dog is the largest of all his litter-mates. This could also just be a prop issue that they didn't think we'd notice... kinda like the extra in blue in Arya's Braavos scenes.

5) The idea of Littlefinger showing up at the last minute to save the day is way too similar to Tywin and the Tyrells at the Battle of the Blackwater. They might do it, but I would be really annoyed.

Also... I really hope Sansa has learned her lesson with Littlefinger and she has more going on with that raven she sent than just caving and asking for his help. I hope that Royce is going to play a larger role in the Vale. He's never likes Littlefinger in the first place, he promised to protect Sansa, and with the shenanigans that LF pulled in "Book of the Stranger" the line in the sand has solidified. He could easily be brought in to conspire against Littlefinger. This would likely work because everything that happened to Sansa has clearly thrown LF off his game and he's not really sure how to deal with her anymore.

Mostly I'm just hoping that the Starks are going to stop getting stomped on. It's a poor storytelling device and it's getting old.
