S8 U.S. unlocked venting thread

This is what I received from the Samsung rep:

"Greetings,

Thank you for taking the time to write in today. My name is David, a proud Samsung user and Expert. It is my pleasure to assist you and I look forward to successfully resolving the issue which brought you here today.

Samsung has concluded the Android Oreo beta testing phase which indicates the release should be soon. Unfortunately, no date has been officially announced for the release to Galaxy phones in the US for unlocked devices

If your phone was purchased through a carrier,, we have had several reports that many carriers are pushing out the Oreo update in the US. Please note that when carriers push out the update it is sent out in stages. For specific information on when your device will get the Oreo release, you would need to contact your carrier.

For UNLOCKED PHONES Although no official announcement has been made by Samsung USA, I have received notification on my Canadian Note 8 that, "Users will be able to upgrade their Galaxy S8, Galaxy 8+ devices starting March 19, 2018 and Galaxy Note 8 devices starting March 28, 2018. Support for Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Galaxy A5 and Tab S3 will be available in Spring/Summer 2018. Support for Galaxy Xcover4, Galaxy A8, Galaxy J3 Prime, Tab A8, Tab Active 2 and Tab A 10.1 will be available later in 2018."

With this Canadian announcement, I suspect an official USA announcement for Oreo 8 release should come soon. I would keep an eye on your Sumsung+ app for notifications on the release date.

Please check out this link to one of the websites I have been following for years which usually provides accurate estimated release dates: https://www.sammobile.com/samsung-galaxy-android-8-o-update

Thank you for your patience.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with today."
