I mostly agree with your overall point, but you can also argue the inverse. There's this weird trend that a woman breaking gender stereotypes must be unattractive or fat or both but definitely not traditionally attractive or feminine. And every man breaking gender stereotypes mustn't look traditionally manly but rather look like this.

Wikipedia describes Lara Croft "as a highly intelligent and athletic British archaeologist who ventures into ancient tombs and hazardous ruins around the world", which breaks half a dozen gender stereotypes right there but feminists don't gives a crap because she got gigantic cans.

It seems, at this point it's not about breaking stereotypes but replacing them with other stereotypes.
