i said the n word and i hate myself for it.

I relate to this unfortunately. I am a women of color myself as I am Latin American, but that is 0 excuse for me to say it. It just makes me feel horrible that my own people face racism everyday, and I was so ignorant. I was 13 when I said it and I had vine as well. I used to quote vines with the n word with my friends. It was so wrong, but I was just so unaware. I thought that because black people used it in vines, that it must be a word that is okay to use( that is obviously WRONG to think). I wish someone would’ve told me. I regret it everyday.

I study sociology which means racism is a major topic that I learn. I feel that, with my knowledge, I should use it to help black people and improve their situations. I want to teach uneducated people who think that “black people aren’t oppressed anymore” or that white people “have nothing to do with it anymore because it was their grandparents.” Unfortunately, I don’t feel like I am able to do that because of what I said.

I definitely understand. I’m not a black person, so I can’t tell you that it’s okay that you used that word. However, I guess all that we can do is learn more about black history and the horrible horrible things they want through.
